The Blue Marble from Apollo 17

Year: 2006-2007
Dimensions: 100x100x6 cm
Materials:
Clay, paper, acrylic colours on mdf and wood panel

This painted bas-relief is inspired by the famous picture of the earth taken in 1972 from the last Apollo mission, which has become a symbol of the fragility and vulnerability of our planet. Many glazes of diluted acrylic color are spread over this preparation, creating a chaotic effect that evokes the complexity of the motion of fluids in our atmosphere that makes life possible.
